Mrs. Rose Plank Roth, widow of Dr. L.A. Roth, died Friday morning at her home in Spring Grove from the effects of a paralytic stroke. She is survived by two sons, J Leroy, Conshohocken; Prof. Ralph L roth, at home; one granddaughter and the following brothers and sisters; George Plank, London, England; Mrs. Hartwell Coch, Ashville, North Carolina; Mrs. Ada Gloss, Carlisle; Miss Anna Plank and Edward Plank, Altoona, and Mrs. Reuben Kaehler, Brysonia.
Mrs. Roth was the daughter of Captain J.H. Plank, of the 165th regiment of the Union army during the Civil war, and also a former sheriff of Adams county, and was a native of Arendtsville, Adams County. Her late husband was also a Civil war veteran.
Mrs. Roth in company with her son and daughter-in-law had spent Thursday evening in 'Hanover, where she complained of a slight illness. However, she returned home and returned as usual. Before going to bed, her son asked her as to whether she wanted a doctor. She replied that if she was not feeling better by morning, she would summon one. She was found dead, however, in the morning. Dr. W.D. Danner was summoned who called on the county coroner, Dr. L.U. Zech, who signed the death certificate.
Funeral services from her late residence at 9:30, Tuesday, with concluding services in the Mt. Zion Reformed church at about 10:00, the Rev. O.P. Schellhamner, retired pastor of the Paradise Reformed charge. After the funeral services the body will be taken to the family burying ground at Mummasburg, Adams county, for interment.
