Below, I compare what was extracted and transcribed from record book for the First Reformed Church of Baltimore ( FTM CD178) and the original records that can be viewed on LDS microfilm #0013700). It is clear and obvious that many mistakes were made transcribing the original records.
FTM CD#178
Baptism - April 12 1789
Birth - Dec 20 1787 <== year ERROR
Child - Henrich
Parents - Christian and Catherina M?ller <== surname ERROR
Grandparents - Wolfgang Etschberger <== surname ERROR
Reading of the original record on microfilm #0013700
Getauft (Baptism) - 12 April 1789
Geboren (Birth) - 20 Dec 1788
Infantee (Infant) - Heinrich
V (Father) - Christian Muma - M (Mother) - Catharine
Gevt (baptismal sponsor or godparents) - Wolfgang Itchberger & etuxor (spouse)
As you can see, there are many compounding errors listed in the transcribed book (CD178). The surname of M?ller was entered and this is why early researchers did not show Henry Muma as one of the children of Christian and Catharine Mumma. Then there was the 1 year error in transcribing his birth year. Also there are a number of other minor errors in the name spelling. While the names may have never been entered correctly in the original church book, at least you hope the transcriber would get it close. Such was not the case so CD#178 is sort of useless, or at least can be very misleading.
In his father's will (Christian Mumma), Christian noted that his son, Heinrich, was incabable of taking care of him self and gave land to his brother in trust for Heinrich to use for his care.
William Mumma, the brother of Henry, files a petition with the Baltimore courts on 10 May 1832 for a "Petition of Lunacy against Henry Mumma" and is appointed his trustee
Henry files a complaint to the Baltimore court on 26 April 1837 that his brother has not been providing him with the proceeds derived from the cultivation of the land that was willed to him, but held under the trusteeship of his brother, William, as directed in his father's Will.
Henry is listed in the 1840 census living by himself. He is missing from the 1850 census. He is identified in Deed GHC 23, folio 289 in which the original tract of land in Gardenville is repartitioned between Joshua Turner and John T. Mumma.
