YOUNG LUMBERMAN DROWNED
A. R. Good Fell Into Swollen Waters of Cliffords Run
Body Found Next Day---Burial in Shenandoah County---Wife and Four Children
Mt. Jackson, June 22 -- Arlington Adolphus Good, a native and recent resident of Maryland, who for some time had been a lumber contractor near Moorefield, W. Va., fell into Clifford's Run during the high waters last week and was drowned. His body was found Friday, the 17th, the day after the accident.
Mr. Good, together with a number of workmen employed by him, were about to cross on a floodgate. All walked across safely on the log of the gate except Mr. Good, who said that he did not think that he could make it. At this juncture, his friend, Charles Rinker, tried to help him, when both men fell, headlong into the creek. After a hard struggle Mr. Rinker managed to save himself, but could not assist Mr. Good, who was drowned. The body was found next morning at 6 o'clock about a half a mile from the place where the drowning occurred.
The body was brought by private conveyance to Cross Roads, Shenandoah county, and buried there Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Service were conducted by Rev. A. R. Beck, of Mr. Jackson.
Mr. Good was an adopted son of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Good, who make their home about six miles west of Mt. Jackson. His wife, who is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Moomaw, survives him with four children.
He was a member of the Lutheran church. It is reported that Mr. Good was engaged on a contract at Moorefield, which would last two years.
