Data source is Dr. John H. Warvel, [deceased]
It initial entries that John Warvel gave me indicated that Barbara Warble died young, but after he and I discussed the following evidence and that which he found in Indiana, we decided that Barbara Warble did live and marry Charles Crouse.
There are several factors which point to her parents being Peter & Barbara Mumma Warble.
1) In the 1850 census, she and Charles are living in Harrison County, OH in the middle of her Mumma cousins.
2) In Aaron Klepinger Mumma's story about the Mumma Family,
http://www.mumma.org/archives/aaron.html
Aaron states the following about Barbara Mumma Warble, his great aunt: "Mrs. Barbara Warble lived in Sharpsburg from whom Kershners of Springfield Ohio, Gordons of Auburn, Ind. and many more sprang."
This would refer to Barbara's daughter, Sarah, who married Jacob Kershner and they lived in Springfield and to Barbara's daughter. The Gordons of Auburn, Indiana would refer to Barbara Warble Crouse's daughter, Mary Catherine Crouse, who married George Gordon and they lived in Audurn, IN. Aaron Mumma lived with his Kershner cousins while he was attending bible college in Springfield and why he was familier with these branches.
and later he stated,
"That same spring the river became very high and all the lower parts of the town were flooded and people boated over what are now the business blocks & streets of Dayton. The bridge was washed away, great trees came down and battered it off the foundation. A toll of one cent was charged for crossing the old wooden bridge and because grandfather had so many to go and went so often, he paid his toll by the year. Barbara Crouse used to pass to and fro, the tollman would call out, "What is the name?" and she would say, "Mumma" and go on."
This Barbara Crouse listed above would therefore be Barbara Warble who married Charles Crouse and was closely related to the Mumma family..
