Well Know Minatare Resident Passed Away at Home of Her Daughter Wednesday Afternoon
Mrs. Keturak Lurilla Mumma, a resident of the Minatare community for nearly thirty years, passed away yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. N. Houck, in this city, where she had made her home for the past year or more. She had been in failing health for the past several months, but fe realized that the end was near until the word was received of her death. She came to Minatare in 1910, accompanied by her husband, and two children, Mrs. N. Houck and Fred K. Mumma. Mr. Mumma engaged in the dray business which he operated for several years. He passed away on June 12, 1919.
Mrs. Mumma was born at Port Byron, Rock Island Co., IL:, on January 15, 1858, and was aged eighty-one years, eleven months and five days at the time of her death, December 20, 1939. She was united in marriage to Joseph M. Mumma on November 3, 1876. Two children, Fred K. Mumma, now a resident of Oroville, Washington, and Mrs. N. Houck, of Minatare, Nebraska, were born to this union. After residing in Illinois, they moved to Friend, Nebraska, and later moved to Thayer, Nebraska, where they resided for many years. In 1910 she moved to Minatare with her family, where she has since resided.
Mrs. Mumma was well known my many residents of this community and was loved and respected by all. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Federated Church, with Rev. W. Ray Radliff in charge. Burial will follow in the Minatare cemetery. Members of the Rebekah lodge will have charge of the services at the grave. The Free Press joins many friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved relatives, who include in addition to her two children, Mrs. N. Houck and Fred K. Mumma, one sister, Mayme Dillon, and a brother, Frank Dillon, of Moline, Illinois, also eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
