My Dear Brothers
I hear inform yours that Jan last Christmas I went to see Jack & Danl to Dolphin Co. I hoped to meet yours there, but unfortunately I have not that consolation to see yours. The only consolation was that I met my other brothers in good health I trust that as I did not meet yours that this will find you in good health as I am at present thank God.
I am still working at L(ewis)town in the coopering trade with Mr. John Shulte? whom I find to be a good employer and paymaster. I imagine I can do as well here as any other place in this union no thoughts ever strikes me to leave here or imagination of bettering myself.
But I'd be anxious you would let me know how the coopering business is in y'r district of the country as I think it must be good where there is such an abundance of wheat etc. My fee here for coopering is 18 cents per flour barrell and I'm able to make 7 of them per day which is about $1.25 per day but I sometimes do not make so much. So you may judge by this which place would be best for me to reside let me know the particulars.
I enjoy good health. I trust that I am living pious. I attend some church every Sunday. I have my choice as there is plenty of them in this town. Wishing yours and all your care in good in good health living pious & in the love & fear of God happiness in this world & Eternal felicity? in the next & as we did not meet in Dolphin but hopes that we will lastly meet in heaven & console one another which is the earnest desire of your ever affectionate Brother,
John
