Notes:
Jack Alvin Moore, was born 5 December 1921 in Vincennes, Indiana. When he was in grade school the family moved to Terre Haute. In the Second World War Jack (or Alvy as he was called by his family) served in the Marine Corps for four years, and was at the landing on Iwo Jima. After discharge Alvy enrolled at Indiana State Teachers College in Terre Haute, majoring in drama and theater arts. After some professional summer stock Alvy joined the Pasadena Playhouse and toured with Henry Fonda in "Mister Rogers". While on tour he married Carolyn Mohr on 14 May 1950 in Las Vegas, and then immediately was back on the road for three more months as Ensign Pulver.
Alvy and Carolyn had three children Barry, Janet and Alyson.
During the 50s and 60s Alvy acted in several motion pictures out of Hollywood, namely in "The Wild One" with Marlon Brando, "Susan Slept Here" with Dick Powell and Debby Reynolds, "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" with Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell, and three dozen others. In 1965 he was chosen to play the role of Hank Kimball in the TV series "Green Acres", which ran for 6 years. After "Green Acres" Alvy appeared in many television shows including (to name but a few) "Newhart", "Hill Street Blues", "Fantasy Island", "The Waltons", "Little House on the Prairie", "Beverly Hillbillies", "Dick Van Dyke Show", "The Munsters", "Playhouse 90", and "Daniel Boone". Alvy also produced "A Boy and His Dog" and three other movies.
Alvy and Carolyn lived in Northridge, California, at the time of the big earthquake, and Alvy -- saying the earth moved and so did we.
--moved into the desert at Palm Desert, right on the golf course. Alvy died 4 May 1997, and was buried in Forest Lawn - Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles. Carolyn continues to live at Palm Desert (as of 1997).
