Notes:
Dorothy Ellen Kinnaman, the third child and second daughter of Walt and Lou, was born 27 April 1903 in Wheatland, Indiana. After graduating from high school in Wheatland, Dorothy, or Dot as she was called in the family, attended Vincennes University and then received a teaching certificate from Terre Haute Normal School. She taught at School #8, School #6 (the "River Bottom" school east of Wheatland), and at Wheatland High School between the years 1921 and 1924.
While attending a KKK picnic in Odon -- more for the spectacle of the event than for any deep-seated interest in the organization -- Dot met Raymond "Bake" Cooper who lived in Odon. Dot and Bake were married 8 August 1924 in Odon, Indiana. Raymond Cooper was born 25 March 1900 in Odon, Indiana, the last child of Leamon Cooper (1856-1944) and Emily Waggoner (1858-1913). Leamon was perhaps a descendant of Absolam Cooper (1792?-1883) who is buried at Odon's Old Town Cemetery. Emily's parents were Russell Logan Waggoner (1833-?) and Sarah Roach; and her ancestors go back to Henry Waggoner who died before 1808 in Russell County, Virginia. Raymond had four brothers and three sisters all born in Indiana.
On 16 April 1925 their only child, Billy Joe, (now William Joseph), was born in Odon.
Dot and Bake with Bill eventually moved to Flint, Michigan, where, during World War II, Bake became a foreman at Fischer Body. A skilled finish carpenter Bake also worked for a custom truck body company which made beer trucks, and for other firms in the Flint area, before starting his own enterprise called the Flint Body Company. Sometime in the late 50s or early 60s Dot and Bake returned to Odon for a time, and then moved permanently to Wheatland, Indiana, where they purchased and renovated a house near Dot's mother Lou.
Raymond died 14 October 1964 after a short illness, and was buried in Wheatland Cemetery. Dorothy found employment with a ladies' clothing store in Washington, Indiana, while she continued to live in Wheatland. Dorothy died 6 March 1976, and was buried next to Raymond in Wheatland Cemetery.
