MUMMA, Carl E. 83, of Springfield, passed away at 10 p.m. September 3, 2006 in his residence. Carl was born December 20, 1922 in Donnelsville, Ohio, the son of Colonel Frank Mumma and Hazel (Carson) Mumma. Carl was the senior member of Mumma Auctioneers & Mumma Realty, which was established by his father in 1910. Carl served in the United States Navy during World War II and upon his return joined his father in the auction business in 1945. He was a licensed auctioneer in the state of Ohio for over 61 years as well as a real estate broker. Carl was elected Clark County Commissioner in 1968 and served two full terms until 1976. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of Springfield Federal Savings & Loan later known as Cornerstone Bank for 25 years. Carl was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, charter member of the Enon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8437 and belonged to the New Carlisle Lodge 100 Free and Accepted Masons. He served on the Clark County Fair Board and was a member of the Northwood Hills Country Club where he loved to play golf. He loved nature and was an avid sportsman. Carl is survived by his daughter, Carrie Ann Walker, Lancaster, Pennsylvania and his son Ronald C. Mumma, Springfield; his former wife, Anne Mumma; grandchildren, Natalie (Josh) Jackson, Keith and Curtis Mumma, Zachary and Landry Walker; great grandchildren, Morgan, Preston, Perry and Parker. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to his doctor and dear friend, Dr. Nha To, as well as his caregivers, Bev Fout, Monica Barnhill and Debbie Wolf. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald C. Mumma. Visitation will be held on Thursday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME from 3-7 p.m. and also one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Bob Scott officiating. Burial will be at the New Carlisle Cemetery.
