Wilsie A. "Lucky" Ryan died Nov. 22, 1999. A resident of Sun City Center, Fl., for 11 years. Born April 28, 1918 in Proctor, WV. Survied by his wife, Thelma Snyder Ryan, daughter, Carol Ryan Acosta, son-in-law, Leonard Acosta, grandchildren, Charisse "Cherie" Diane Acosta, Leonard Wayne Acosta, Michelle Acosta Whelchel, and Darren Shane Acosta, great-grandchildren, Danielle Christine Acosta, Jennifer Marie Acosta, Allison Nicole Whelchel, Grant Christopher Whelchel and Darren Shane Acosta II.
During World War II, he served in the 5th Ranger Bn., Co. B. where he was an M-1 rifle and bazooka expert and made the "D" Day landing at Omaha Beach. He earned the Combat Infantry Badge while serving in the Normandy Campaign, Northern France Campaign, German Campaign, as well as the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Battle Stars. In the 1950's, he was a watchmaker and a jeweler in Plant City, Fl. He had a Commercial Pilot's License and was a Ham Radio Operator with the Call Letters KR4KD. He retired from the F.A.A. after 24 years as an Air Traffic Controller Specialist. He was a former member of the Sun City Radio Club and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the National Ranger Bn., the Alvah Miller Ranger Chapter, V.F.W. Post of Ruskin and D.A.V. Post of Tampa. He was a Roman Catholic. He believed in God, Country, Family, and his Fellow Man. Graveside Servie 1:00 P.M., Friday, Nov. 26, 1999, at Sunset Memory Gardens, Tampa, Fl. Family will receive friends 11-12 P.M.
