Notes:
Data source is the Robert A Moomaw "Moomaw, Mumma, Mumaw, Mumaugh" book 1990 and the "Moomaw Newsletters" published by Margaret Dieringer between 1983 & 1989 and other miscellaneous documents.
In Margaret Dieringer's Newsletter, Volume 1, #2, page 7, she wrote the following:
---------------------------------
I have copies of two handwritten sheets from the files of the Lancaster County Mennonite Historical Society, Lancaster. It is not clear who wrote them:
"
Copied Aug 1856 from a small book Uncle John Mumma has --
Family records of grandfather and his offsprings to the present time. Frederick Mumma was born in Germany, came to America young, died February 8, 1814 and was 84 years of age. His wife, Fronica, her maiden name was Nolt, died in 1807. They had nine children - John, Elizabeth, Jacob, Aney, Christian, Barbara, Jonas, David, and Mary. These came to maturity.
"
Anna's death date determined by Denise Lahr who has researched the records of Hannes Eby. Hannes recorded many events relating to his family. Hannes noted the burial (that's how he did it) of "Anna Niessly, Samuel Nissly's wife, Rapho Township" on Sept. 18, 1823, at the age of 60 years, 5 months. He also noted the burial of "David Mumma, died in Jonas Eby's" on June 15, 1830, no age given.
Anna's place of birth is listed as West Hempfield township in her grandson's biography written in the Annals of Lancaster county. This birth location is contrary to general opinon because Frederick Mumma primarily lived in Donegal essentially all his married life. However, from deed records, we learn that Frederick and Frena Nolt bought a piece of the family land in West Hempfield township in 1759, but sold it in 1763 when the moved to the family property they held in Donegal township. Therefore, the first four children of Frederick and Fena would have been born in West Hempfield township, Lancaster County. See her father's notes for deed details.
