Sister Mariah E. Pobst, nee Moomaw, died at her home near Cloverdale, Va., June 1, 1904, after an illness of nine weeks from catarrh of stomach, aged 60 years and 9 months. She united with the church early in life and remained faithful until death. She is survived by nine children, who were left to entirely in her care for a number of years. These she succeeded in winning to Christ early in life, not one exceeding fifteen years. Services at the Valley church by elders Jonas Graybill and C. D. Hylton, after which her remains were deposited in the cemetery at Daleville.

Note: According to the family genealogical book ?Nine Roads from Cloverdale? ? 1988 by Katie Westman and Lucille McMillan, Charles left the family on December 28th, 1891. On January 6th, 1892, Maria sued in court for a divorce and clear title to their Cloverdale home and property. The court granted her request.
