3183. Edwin Mumma Jacoby, son of George, was born 24 Nov. 1839 at Seven Mile, Butler; Presbyterian; home in Middletown, 0.; died 9 Sept. 1867; buried in Woodside Cemetery, Middletown. He married, 30 Nov., 1865, at Middletown, Mary Elizabeth Jones (3183-a); died 26 June 1894; buried in same cemetery as husband - Sept. 1871, a (3183-a-b); home in Middletown.
Child of Edwin M. Jacoby b , his wife: Edna born Apl. 1867. Children of Charles H. Beck by his wife: 2, Nellie E. born -- 1872; 3. Henry, 3 July 1875. Edna died 22 July 1869; buried in same cemetery as parents.
Edwin was in the service of the United States in the War. He enlisted for a service of three years; was enrolled, 1861, at Camp, Dennison, 0., as first sergeant in Co. G, 12th Reg't., Ohio Volunteer Infantry; promoted to rank of 2d Lieut., 31 Mar. 1862, but resigned this commission Oct. 8, 1862. The battles of South Mountain and Antietam had occurred 14 and 17 Sept. 1862, respectively. He was mustered out with the regiment 11 July 1864 by reason of expiration of term of service (Official Roster of Soldiers of State of Ohio in War of Rebellion, 1861-'66, v. 2, p. 371), His name is inscribed in the Soldiers, Sailors and Pioneer Monument of Butler County at Hamilton, 0. He was in delicate health after his war service until his death.
