MUMMA-Charles Ray, Sr., age 81 of Ottawa, Kansas passed away Friday, March 26, 2004 at the Village Manor Nursing Home in Ottawa. He was born July 9, 1922 in Bush City, Kansas the son of Louie and Marguerite (Fitch) Mumma. He grew up and attended school in Garnett, Kansas. He joined the C.C.C. Camp in Wyoming and later was transfetred to Omaha, Nebraska during the Depression. He was united in marriage to Milla Cole on February 26, 1942 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. They shared over sixty-two years of marriage. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Charles was a Carpenter and a General Contractor for many years in Omaha, Nebraska. He retired in 1984.
Charles and his wife moved to Ottawa, Kansas in 1988. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Ottawa; V.F.W. Post #5901, Ottawa, Kansas and the American Legion #58 of Topeka, Kansas. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid sports fan. He is survived by his wife, Milla of the home; four sons, Charles Mumma Jr. and his wife, Karen of Omaha, Nebraska, John M. Mumma and his wife, Ruth of Omaha, Nebraska, Phillip Mumma and his wife, Judy of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Carl Mumma and his wife, Janice of Omaha, Nebraska. Two brothers, Louie Mumma Jr. and his wife, Margaret of Garnett, Kansas and Leonard Mumma and his wife, Kathryn of Wichita, Kansas. one sister, Sylvia Welborn of Ottawa, Kansas; Eleven grandchildren; Twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Helen.
Graveside services and Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Omaha, Nebraska. Mr. Mumma will lie in-state after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church and may be sent in care to the Lamb-
