JOHN MUMMA DIES IN AUTO CRASH
One man was instantly killed while another escaped without a scratch near Spokane Washington. The car in which they were riding skidded on ice and turned over two miles east on Chattaroy on the Chattaroy-Blanchard road intersection.
John Mumma, 59, Chattaroy, Wash. Farmer and driver of the car, was instantly killed. Sam Poole, owner of the car and a passenger at the time of the accident, was uninjured.
The state motor patrol reported Mumma was thrown from the turning car and suffered a crushed chest and broken neck in an 80 foot flight through the air. The accident occurred on December 21, 1941.
Mumma, a native of Fulton County and a son of the late James A. and Eliza Mumma, resided during his younger days at Laidig, this county. He leaves no family, but two brothers and one sister: Nelson Mumma of Harvard, Idaho, James of Iowa and Mrs. John W. Snyder of Knobsville, PA. Obit found in FCHS scrapbook collection.

I found this item the other night when I was surfing.
Maybe John Wesley was visiting his brother, Harvey Nelson Mumma, when he had to register for the draft. I found him in the 1930 census living in Washington state. "Lost" in the 1920 census. I wonder what happened to John between 1917/18 and 1920
