Notes:
Her obituary reads:
Hockensmith.
Miss Fannie Hockensmith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Hockensmith, of Laidig, died at the home of her parents Sunday morning, June 16, 1901, about 6 o'clock a.m. She was born August 30, 1871, and was 29 years, 9 months and 16 days old at her death. For a year and a half she was a sufferer from consumption, and though for months she knew there was no hope, she did not falter or despond. She had settled the one important matter years before and approaching death caused no terror. With Christian fortitude she faced the inevitable and was ready to depart and be with Him whom she served which she realized would be far better than to remain in the body pent, enfeebled by disease. She was a faithful member of Green Hill Presbyterian church, having lived in Licking Creek with her parents until they moved into Taylor township a few years ago. Miss Fanny spent some time in Pittsburgh before she became ill. She leaves her parents and five brothers and two sisters besides other relatives to sorrow for her early death. She was interned at Green Hill Monday afternoon, Rev. Dr. West conducting her funeral services.
Although the FCHS Cemetery disk, 1997 records her name as Frances, the Fulton County Death Record found in the court house says that she was Francis R.. It also states that she was single, white, 29 years old, died of consumption, ill 6 months, born in Licking Creek, died in Taylor township, occupation was seamtris, died on June 16, 1901, buried in Green Hill on June 17, 1901, parents Samuel Hockensmith and Elizabeth J. Hockensmith. Information, death record, and obituary sent by Peg Kwatrat email address: MKwadrat@aol.com May 2002
