Entered into rest in Leola, PA on March 24, 2002, husband of the late Helaine Berger in his 81st year. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Highland Presbyterian Church, 1801 Oregon Pike, Lancaster, PA on Thursday at 2pm with the Rev. Dr. Karl A. Kling officiating. Interment will be in Landis Valley Mennonite Cemetery, Lancaster, PA. Military honors will be accorded by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6-9pm at the KEARNEY A. SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 141 East Orange St., Lancaster, PA and also on Thursday at the Highland Presbyterian Church from 1pm until the time of service. Career - Research chemist Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company Industries, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh, 1946-1966, Union Carbide Corporation, Bound Brook, New Jersey, 1966-1974. Coatings engineer, specialist Gilbert/Commonwealth, Reading, Pennsylvania, 1974-1988. President Berger Associates, Incorporated, Leola, from 1988.
Major achievements - Registered professional engineer, California. Certified engineer national board registration nuclear safety related coatings engineer and specialists. Achievements include first to make synthetic aluminum, sterate using hydrogentated fatty acids, process various pigments from press cake into flush colors, apply a thermosetting acrylic to building siding.
Development of various zinc rich coatings.
