Notes:
From the Autobiography of Gracie Jones Glenn:
"My maternal grandfather was Elias Houser, son of Isaac and Barbara Houser and was born in April 29, 1810 in Hagerstown, Maryland. On Nov. 12, 1833 he was married to Eliza Malott, who was born Feb. 11, 1815. It was on their wedding night (Nov. 12, 1833) that "the stars fell," an event that scared everybody. Some thot it meant the end of the world for it seemed as if every star in the sky fell. Poor grandmother and grandfather were teased about their marriage causing the stars to fall. They lived in Maryland till 1839, when they came west, locating in Clark County, Missouri. They came by wagon and brot what they could, including four children."
Other items:
1. They moved to St. Louis in 1846 and started a successful cord wood business.
2. Before 1858, he rented some farm land in St. Clair County a little north and east of O'Fallon.
3. In 1858, he bought the farm of 120 acres between O'Fallon and Shiloh. He lived there till he retired and moved to O'Fallon.
4. He left his 120 acre farm to "Bud" [presumably Elias, Jr.] and his home in O'Fallon to a single daughter(?).
5. He apparently had another daughter for a total of nine children. This daughter's name and where she is in the family is not known at present.
