Died Suddenly.
J. B. Moomaw Fell Dead of Heart Failure Thursday Evening.
About 6:30 o'clock Thursday evening, while the streets were crowded with people, Mr. J. B. Moomaw, a respected citizen of this township, fell on the street in front of Richard Taylor's store and was picked up by bystanders and carried into Lhuillier's drug store where he died a few seconds later of heart failure. It was one of those sad things that come unexpectedly and always casts a gloom over the community. His sudden death was in no way connected with the celebration and did not enterfere [sic] with the program although the sympathy of all went out to the son and daughter of the dead man.
The body was taken home and prepared for interment which took place today, Friday, at 3 p.m., at Fairmount Chapel. The deceased was 71 years old and had lived in this community since 1868. His wife died in October 1897 and all that is left of the family is the son Otho and daughter, Miss May who have a host of friends and neighbors to share with them in the loss of father and friend.
