Anna Mumma, 76, Was Family Services Directory for 40 Years -
Anna Martha Mumma, 76, a retired social worker and director at the Family & Children's Service of Lancaster County, died from heart disease Saturday at Foulkeways Retirement Community, Gwynedd.
Formerly of Mount Joy and Lancaster, she had lived at the retirement community since June 1980.
Miss Mumma was a graduate of Mount Joy High School, Cornell University and the New York School of Social Work. She began work at the agency in 1931 and retired in 1971. She was responsible for evaluating clients and referring them to other social workers. She has seen over 6,000 families in her 40 years with the agency.
She was a member of the Soroptimist Club and the Unitarian Church of Lancaster.
Born in Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late Israel N. and Martha Eby Mumma.
Surviving are cousins.
