WEST SALEM, OH -- V. Ruth (Rohrer) Mumaw, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 7, 2016, at Burbank Parke Health Care. She was born May 6, 1925 in Wadsworth to Clayton and Martha (Knupp) Rohrer, and married Floyd E. Mumaw on Aug. 18, 1946 at Bethel Mennonite Church in Wadsworth. He preceded her in death.
She was a longtime resident of Wayne County, and was an active member, as long as able, at Wooster Mennonite Church, where she was one of the founding members. She enjoyed music and sang in a trio at the church which sang on Wooster Radio, WWST, in the 50s and 60s.
Ruth had worked at Wooster Community Hospital, Smithville Landmark, Glendora Health Care and Wren Sales & Rentals. She also clerked auctions at Madison Hill and for her husband. She enjoyed quilting, making quilts for all of her children and grandchildren, and was proud to be on the committee for Mennonite Relief Sales.
Surviving are sons, Glenn Mumaw (his significant other, Carla Powers) and Gene (Kimberly) Mumaw, both of Wooster; a daughter, Julia (Wes) Lambert of West Salem; a daughter-in-law, Geraldine Lehman-Mumaw of Elkhart, Ind.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Nancy Jean Mumaw, and a son, Gerald Lee Mumaw; three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Drive, Wooster. Graveside services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Martins Mennonite Church Cemetery, Orrville. Pastor George Swain will conduct funeral services Saturday at 11 a.m. at Wooster Mennonite Church.
