Services for James Akridge Moomaw, 80, of rural Center, will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2014 at Bienhoff Funeral Home, Perry, with Reverend Donald Schutte officiating. Burial will be in Lick Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Moomaw passed away at 4:45 a.m. July 11, 2014 at Hannibal Regional Hospital with his family by his side. He was born January 3, 1934 in Ralls County, the son of James Wesley and Mildred Vivian Akridge Moomaw. He was married to Juanita Fern Burroughs on March 21, 1951 in Hannibal and she survives.
Other survivors include: one son and his wife, Mike and Virginia Moomaw; one daughter and her husband, Joyce Ann and Richard Vincent; three grandchildren, Allen Sweeting, Chris Moomaw, and Jennifer Fulton; and five great grandchildren, Maddox, Braxton, and Lexy Sweeting, Kaylee Fulton and Kyndall Moomaw.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Moomaw Clouse.
Mr. Moomaw was lifetime area resident and farmer. He was Christian by faith. He worked as a laborer for the Ralls County Highway Department for many years. He enjoyed restoring antique tractors and collecting all brands of miniature farm toys.
Memorials may be made to the Ralls County Health Department Home Health Care.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Schutte, Kenny McIntosh, Allen Sweeting, Chris Moomaw, Jimmy Fulton and Jimmy Branch.
