Willavene "Billie" Mumaw, 98, of Allegheny Township, died Monday (May 19, 2003) in West Haven Nursing Home, Washington Township.
Born Aug. 24, 1904, in Parks, she lived in Allegheny Township most of her life.
She was a member of Apollo United Presbyterian Church, Vandergrift Order of the Eastern Star, and charter member of Vandergrift Womens Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Lee (James) Walker of Washington Township; a stepson, William C. (Shirley) Mumaw of Washington Township; two grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
Also surviving is a stepdaughter-in-law, Larue Mumaw of Apollo. Her grandchildren are Anne (Patrick) Cloonan of North Irwin and James A. (Linda) Walker Jr. of Worthington; stepgrandchildren, Beth Vida of Parks, Peggy Chierici of Leechburg, Susan Ralph and John M. Mumaw III, both of Kiski Township, Karen Shaffer of Vandergrift, Rebecca Moyes of Allegheny Township, Cindy Bedlack of Somerset, N.J., and William C. Mumaw Jr. of Washington Township; and great-grandchildren, Victoria Lynn, Shannon Leah and Hannah Leigh Walker, all of Worthington.
Mrs. Mumaw was preceded in death by her first husband, George O. Owens; second husband, Dr. John M. Mumaw; a stepson, John M. Mumaw Jr.; her parents, Charles R. and E. Augusta Stitt Lanning; two brothers, Emerson and John Lanning; and three sisters, Myra Wiggins, Grace Wolford and Marie Martin.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME INC., 100 Owens View Drive, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday by the Rev. John Helgeson. Burial will be in Vandergrift Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of donor's choice.
