Jean (Ferguson) Marasco, 94, of Greensburg, formerly of Scottdale, passed away Thursday afternoon, Dec. 19, 2013, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. Jean was born Dec. 10, 1919, in Scottdale, a daughter of the late George M. and Nellie (Ritchie) Ferguson, who passed away in 1952 and 1966 respectively. She was married to Ralph P. Marasco, who passed away Jan. 13, 2007. Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She graduated from the former Scottdale High School, class of 1937, and Allegheny College in Meadville, class of 1941, where she was previously employed as an administrative secretary. Jean was also a lifelong member of Calvin United Presbyterian Church in Scottdale. Jean will be sadly missed by her devoted family; her daughter, Marjorie M. Somers, of Greensburg; her three grandchildren, Suzette (Somers) Dieter and her husband, Chris, of North Huntingdon, Lance Somers, of Greensburg, and Courtney (Somers) Smith and her husband, John, of Florida; her six great-grandchildren, Paige and Brock Dieter, Taylor and Logan Somers, and Summer and Payton Smith; her brother, Robert Ferguson and his wife, Nancy, of Scottdale; her three nieces; her three nephews; and her former granddaughter-in-law, Jacqueline Somers and her son, Derek Smolka. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marjorie Ferguson Conway (1987) and her brother, William G. Ferguson (2012). Family and friends were received this past Saturday and Sunday in the funeral home chapel, followed by funeral services, with the Rev. Leonard Morgan officiating.
