"History of Western Maryland" by J. Thomas Scharf (1968 reprint), volume 01, page 631. Its early records are lost. The first child baptized was Johann Adam, son of Jacob and Margaretta Momma, b. April 15, 1773, bap. May 23, 1773, sponsors, John Adam and Wilhemina Reitenauer.
Adam's father, John Jacob Mumma likely died in 1782. The following record appears in the Orphans Court Proceedings of Frederick Co., (1777-1786) ------August 1782-------
"Margaret Mumma, admin. of Adam Mumma, offered David Throup and Jacob Stimmel as securities"
Adam does not appear in the 1790 census. I speculate that he was likely living with Jacob Stimmel who is listed in the 1790 & 1800 census

(There has been a question whether George Mummaugh (b: 1809) could have been a son of Adam Mumma. He could have been the son born between 1800-1810. He should have appeared in the 1820 census, but no males other than Adam appear in that census. By the 1830 census he may have been out of the house. Another possible son is Henry Mumma, (b: 1805) who resided in Adams County, PA. The area of residence makes this connection a strong possibility, but again not listed in the 1820 cenus, unless all of the male children were left off of the census]
