Note by Billie Rakushin - Albert worked in the mines and they had to wear blousy shirts. It was described to me that the sleeves were not form fitted but sort of billowy at the wrist. His sleeve got caught in machinery and he was killed. My Grandma had to be admitted to the hospital upon hearing the news about him and was highly sedated. During that period of time officials from the mine came to her and had her sign a paper which turned out to be a paper saying that they were not liable for Bert Mumaw's death. As a result they did not pay her a penny for this wrongful death. Also one of the consequences of this accident was a new style of dress for the miners.
