Seven-Year-Old Jumps Off Bridge And Is Killed
Woodstock, Va., June 1 (AP) --- Seven-year-old Douglas Mitchell Mumaw, caught on a Southern railroad bridge leaped to his death in fright today when he saw he could not outrace an approaching passenger train.
Douglas' two brothers, Gerald and Donald, and two sisters, Shirley and Barbara Ann, streaked ahead to reach solid land ahead of the Southbound noon train, but Douglas, youngest of the five children of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mumaw of near here, couldn't make it.
His head struck a projecting steel trestle. He was dead when his brothers and Shirley hurried to his side.
