Landon Elmore Mumaw, 87, of Woodstock and formerly of Mt. Jackson and Waynesboro, passed away Friday, January 8, 2010 at Greenfield of Woodstock. The funeral will be held Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Christ United Church of Christ in Conicville. Reverend David E. Roe will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Landon was born February 15, 1922 in Conicville, son of the late John Aaron and Mamie Tysinger Mumaw. He graduated from Triplett High School and was a retired dairy farmer. He was a member of Christ United Church of Christ in Conicville where he was a former Treasurer, Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of the Sunday school and a former trustee, elder, deacon and choir member of the church. He was married to the late Geneva Estep Mumaw who passed away on July 13, 1991.
He is survived by his second wife, Dorothy Harlow Mumaw of Woodstock whom he married on December 7, 1996; daughter, Carolyn Alice Mumaw Dove and her husband, John, of Mt. Jackson; two grandsons, Adam Dove and his wife, Mallory, of Gainesville, VA and Anthony Dove and his wife, Emily, of Raleigh, NC.
Pallbearers will be Adam Dove, Ralph Harlow, Ricky Showman, Bobby Showman, Daniel Showman and Winston Lutz.
The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock.
