Mary Ann Doutrich Seipos, 83, of Harrisburg, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the Community General Osteopathic Hospital, with family at her side. She was the wife of the late Andrew G. Seipos.
She was born in Harrisburg on December 22, 1929 and was a daughter to the late Paul, Sr. and Anna M. (Mumma) Doutrich, and sister of the late Tim Doutrich, mayor of Harrisburg.
She began her professional career in Manhattan, writing copy for the J. Walter Thompson advertising agency. Later, she worked at the Scholastic Press. In mid-life she relocated to Miami where she taught children with challenges. In Miami she met Andrew G. Seipos whom she married. She and Andrew located to Sanibel, Florida, where they lived just a block from the Gulf of Mexico.
She and Andrew were successful real estate brokers on Sanibel. In addition Mary Ann volunteered as an advocate for children who found themselves in court because of the irresponsibility of the adults around them, and who could not speak for themselves.
Mary Ann was a world traveler all her life to many places, the more exotic the better. In fact right now she would have been in South America had illness not intervened.
Surviving her memory are nieces and nephews, Paul E. Doutrich, III of York, Ellen L. Zicca of NY, Timothy H.M. (Tim) Doutrich of Harrisburg, Dorothy L. Williams of Harrisburg, and Raymond P. Wirth of Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Andrew; a brother, Paul E. (Tim) Doutrich, Jr.; and a niece,Jean Ann Griffith.
A memorial service to celebrate Mary Ann's life will take place on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Pine Street Presbyterian Church, 310 N. 3rd St., Harrisburg, PA 17101 at 11am with the Rev. Alex Lang officiating.
Friends and family are invited to share condolences beginning at 10:30am until the time of the service. Burial will be private.
