Galen Moomaw
Galen Edwin Moomaw, 80, of Joppa, Md., died Monday, May 24, 2004, at the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Md.
Mr. Moomaw was born Sept. 15, 1923, in Orkney Springs, son of the late Edward F. Moomaw and Sally Florence Hepner Moomaw.
He had been a resident of Joppa, Md., for the past 43 years. He was employed by the Western Electric Company as a wire inspector for 41 years.
He was a member of the Fallston Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder as well as being active in the church's senior group.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. As a member of the 508th Army engineers, he fought in five campaigns beginning with the Battle of the Bulge.
His wife of 55 years, Erma J. Hepner Moomaw, survives.
Also surviving are a son, Dr. Keith Moomaw of Joppa, Md.; a sister, Nellie Ridgeway of Deale, Md.; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Revs. Mitchell Miller and Leonard Dahl conducted a memorial service Thursday, May 27, at Fallston Presbyterian Church, Fallston, Md. Another service was conducted Saturday, May 29, by the Revs. Don Shull and Mitchell Miller at Mount Hermon United Methodist Church west of Mount Jackson. Burial with full military honors by the Strasburg American Legion Post No. 77 was in the Mount Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery in Mount Jackson.
