Gary M. Click, 72, of Roanoke County, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at his home.
He was born on September 4, 1944 in New Market, VA to Mary Catherine Moomaw Click and Marlin Frederick Click.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Kay Walters.
Following graduation from Stonewall Jackson High School in Quicksburg, VA in 1962, Gary honorably served in the United States Army.
After his years in the service, Gary worked at Dunham Bush and Southern Refrigeration Corporation, both in Harrisonburg, VA.
Building upon his love of plants, Gary then moved his family to Clemmons, NC to co-own and operate Buena Vista Garden Shops.
Several years later, Gary returned to Southern Refrigeration Corporation, working in the headquarters in Roanoke, VA, retiring in 2011.
Left to cherish Gary's memory are his wife of 52 years, Carole Pence Click; children, Melissa Click (Chip Callahan) and Felix Click (Robin Howse); brothers, Larry Click of Cookeville, TN and Tim Click (Donna) of Timberville, VA. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Trey, Leah, and Lane; and many nieces and nephews.
Gary could fix anything, was a lifelong learner, and had a strong work ethic. He had a big heart and donated his skills and time to care for many people and causes over the years. Gary was a skillful gardener who also enjoyed amateur radio and target shooting. He loved his family, animals, and cars, and had a lively sense of humor. He and Carole also enjoyed traveling.
Gary was a member of Cave Spring United Methodist Church.
A memorial of Gary's life will be held on June 24, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Cave Spring United Methodist Church in Roanoke.
Flowers are welcome, as are memorial donations to the Backpack Ministry at Cave Spring United Methodist Church, 4505 Hazel Drive, Roanoke, VA 24018.
