Deceased Name: CLYDE P. MUMMA, 82; HAD FORMER LOCAL OIL COMPANY
Clyde P. Mumma, 82, of 2302 Catasauqua Road, Bethlehem, died Friday in Muhlenberg Hospital Center. He was the husband of Mary A. (Ammend) Mumma. They were married 59 years in November.
He founded two companies both in the Macungie area, Mumma Oil Co. in 1956 and Mumma Oil Production Co. in 1972, where he worked until retiring. Before that, he was a co-founder of Twin City Oil Co. in 1953, and had worked as a sales representative, district and regional manager for Atlantic Refining Co. from 1932-53.
Born in Brownstown, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Rev. Monroe S. and Flora (Pierce) Mumma.
He was a 1931 graduate of Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster.
He was a member of Emmanuel Evangelical Congregational Church, Bethlehem, where he was a former member of the Official Board and former Sunday school superintendent.
He was a director of the National Bank of Topton and a vice president and director of the former Industrial Savings and Loan of Bethlehem.
Mumma was a chairman of the Salvation Army Advisory Board, Allentown, and was recently honored with a Life Membership Award.
He was a past president of both the Allentown and Bethlehem Kiwanis International and served as Lieutenant Governor of Kiwanis International from 1961-63.
Survivors: Son, Clyde F. of Allentown; and three grandsons.
