Marguerite Moomaw

Marguerite Moomaw passed away on November 4, 2005 at the age of 91. Marguerite was born March 10, 1914 in Santa Ana, California. She met Jack Moomaw in 1936 in Santa Ana, and was married in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1939. The newly married Moomaws returned to Santa Ana until Jack Moomaw entered the Navy during WWII. Marguerite moved to San Francisco during WWII. After the war, the couple moved to Hubbard, Oregon. In 1955 they moved to Gold Beach, where they lived for over 15 years. Marguerite and Jack were married for 50 years, when Jack passed away.
Marguerite worked in Ollie and Jim Ferguson's Lily fields, and also at the Hunter Creek Box Factory. Marguerite loved to swim and spent many hours with her two sons swimming in the Rogue River at the Ferry Hole. Marguerite enjoyed knitting, needlepoint and embroidery. She made several beautiful quilts and knitted hundreds of stocking caps over the years, as she would give them to various shelters.
Marguerite, most recently, had been a resident at Shore Pines for the last four years.
She is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-laws: Jay and Darlene Moomaw of Portland; Rex and Joy Moomaw or [sic] Gold Beach; sister, Gertrude Rowland of Hemet, California; four grandchildren, Traci Sweet, Hillsboro, Teri Moomaw, Portland, Jake and Brody Moomaw, Gold Beach; and two great-grandsons, Jack Miller, Portland and Adam Moomaw, Gold Beach.
