Notes:
Data source is the 1971 self published book by Richard Glenn Huffman [deceased], "George Muma Genealogy".
Enlisted in Co. H, 89th Regiment, Indiana, Volunteers, Aug. 1862; received a shell wound in battle of Tupelo, Miss. He was discharged as a corporal on July 19, 1865.
George Washington Mumma kept a diary during his enlistment in the Civil War. His brother, Rezin Mumma also kept a diary. Both diaries, about 50-60 pages in length, are available at the Decatur Public Library, Decatur, Indiana. Both diaries contain very little genealogical information other than a 1 page biographic sketch of Rezin and 3 pages for George Washington. The books primarily record their daily observations during the War.
