VIRDEN - Okal C. Wrightsman, 96, of Virden passed away at 10:10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center.
Okal was born Jan. 20, 1912, in Virden, the son of George and Melva (Gibson) Wrightsman. Okal married Miriam I. Brubaker on May 19, 1935, in Virden; she preceded him in death. He then married Antonette "Toni" Ludek-Moore on March 11, 1991, in Virden; she survives.
Okal was a member of the Virden Church of the Brethren in Virden, farmed in the Virden area for over 35 years and was the founder of Wrightsman Real Estate and Insurance Inc. in Virden.
Okal is survived by wife, Toni; sons, Dwayne E. (Linda) Wrightsman of Lee, N.H., Marvin O. (Helen) and Loy D. (Cynda) Wrightsman, both of Virden; stepsons, James (Miriam) Moore of Auburn and Chris Moore of Springfield; stepdaughter, Michelle (Mark) Mason of Lincoln; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Okal was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Miriam; brothers, Vernie and Estell Wrightsman; and a sister, Glenna Brian.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, at the Calvert and Ferry Funeral Home in Virden. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at the funeral home with the Rev. Rich McElfresh officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
