Notes:
Data source is the 1990 book, "Moomaw-Mumma-Mumaw-Mumaugh Genealogy" compiled by Robert Austin Moomaw (deceased).
David's birth year is speculative, based on the facts that he was likely the 3rd youngest child. Jacob is known through his father Will to be the youngest son as he had not reached the age of majority when his father's will was written in 1785. Also, we know that he appeared on the tax rolls in 1787, but was not listed on the "non-associators" tax list of 1777. Therefore, he was definitely born after 1756, but before 1764.
In his father's Will written in 1785, David was given the opportunity to purchase approximately 100 acres of his father's estate. His father died in 1786 and David was assessed in 178 & 1788. This was ub Hempfield Twp., Lancaster Co., PA. He no longer appears on the tax rolls after 1788, suggesting that he may have sold the land and migrated elsewhere.
We know that David was alive and had children in 1793 through the Will of Jacob Hertzler. Jacob Hertzler. married David's sister, Maria Mumma. Maria died shortly after her marriage to Jacob and was still owed money from her brother, Henry. Jacob stipulated in his will that Maria's portion of the monies due from her brother Henry should be distributed to the children of her brothers, George and David. Also, 1760 is a reasonable estimate base on the 1819-1830 census of Virginia
There has been speculation that this David Mumma is the same David who has been identified as 219, David Muma, b. abt 1760. David Mumma disapears from Lancaster County records about 1790 and a David Muma appears in the 1810 census of Shenandoah Co.(later Page County) Virginia as head of family. No 1800 census exists for Virginia. He appears on a 1807 Shenandoah County deed in which is listed as being of "of this county" suggesting he lives in Shenandoah County. (Note: the 1800 census does not exist for Virginia). Page County became a separate county in 1831 and was created from part of Shenandoah County. Prior to the area becoming Page county, it was enumerated as "Isabella Furnace" district which is around the present day town of Luray, VA.
Y-chromosome test results obrained at Family Tree DMA of David (07) whowed that this david was a descendant of George Anothy Mumma. Therefore, Davie, the sone George Anthony Mumma andDavid Mumma of Page county, VA were merged together.

The original data source for David Mumma? was Anna Lou Mack Martin,
It should be noted that Page county, VA was formed from Shenandoah and Rockingham counties in 1831. It is likely that David did not move between the two counties, but simply the Page county border was created and that is why he is listed as being in Page County, VA after 1831. The family lived in the area of Luray, VA.
David is found on the 1810 census of Shenandoah Co. Va. as head of family. His age is listed as over 45 years. Not all of the boys are corectly listedlisted.

In 1820 it is also listed as over 45. On the 1830 Shenandoah Co. census he is listed as between 70 - 80. This suggests that David was likely born abt 1760. There was a David Mumma, b. bet 1756-1764, assessed 1787-1788 Hempfield Township, Lancaster Co., Pa. This may be the same person. Some of this family migrated from Pa. to Va. in this time period. We find in the Shenandoah County Deed Book U. Page 696 that in June 1807, William S. Marye and Mary, his wife, of Shenandoah Co. Va. sold to David Mumah of same county for $66.67 a certain tract of land containing 20 acres lying in Shenandaoh Co. on the drains of South River of Shenandoah adjoining Andrew Kysor and Michael Rinehart. Recorded 7 Dec. 1807 and 7 Mar. 1814.
In 1826 David signs a statement that he gives permission for his daughter, Molly, to marry Woodford Lawrence. Unfortunately there are ink blotches through the signature, but it verifies that David was literate.
