KIDRON - Mary E. Beals died on Friday, April 19, 2013, at the age of 96 at her home.
She was born near Mount Eaton in Holmes County on March 3, 1917, as the third daughter of the late Stanley and Clara (Senff) Mumaw.
She was a life-long resident of the Mount Eaton-Kidron area and graduated from Mount Eaton High School. She was employed by the Mount Eaton First National Bank for 10 years and the Kidron First National Bank for 22 years.
On April 25, 1942, she married Clair R. Beals. To this union were born a son, Steven, and a daughter, Candi. Clair died on Dec. 21, 1992.
She was a member of the former St. Paul United Church of Christ in Mount Eaton where she served on many committees. She did volunteer work for the American Red Cross in Kidron.
She loved good music, lawn and garden work, serving her family and grandchildren and traveling.
She is survived by her son, Steven Beals, and daughter-in-law, Martha Ann, of Columbus; and daughter, Candi Kinney, and son-in-law, James, of Wooster; four grandchildren, Jamie and Amiee Kinney of Seattle, Wash., Beth Ann Bridgman of Columbus, Cristie and Paul Winters of Portsmouth and Karen and Nick Westover of Wooster; and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 4 p.m. at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, 68 W. Main St., Apple Creek, with Pastor Scott Casebeer officiating. Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling the arrangements.
