Juanita R. Mumaw - (The State Journal-Register) View/Sign Guest Book
SPRINGFIELD - Juanita R. Mumaw, 83, of Springfield died at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2007, at St. John's Hospice.
Juanita was born June 2, 1924, in Oakland, Calif., the daughter of Theodore and Lillian Ferguson Altamirano. She married Donald Mumaw on Dec. 16, 1944, in San Diego; he preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 1975.
Juanita was employed at Horace Mann Educators Corp. for 15 years, until her retirement in 1988. She then went to work at Dollar General for 10 years and truly enjoyed it. Juanita also enjoyed cross-stitching, crocheting and playing the piano.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Leslie "Les" Altamirano.
She is survived by three sons, Ron (wife, Cathy) Mumaw Sr. and Gary (wife, MaryBeth) Mumaw, both of Springfield, and Dennis (wife, Barb) Mumaw of Chatham; a daughter, Judy Hughes of Springfield; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dolores (husband, Rod) Egelston of Tracy, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
A private family ceremony will be held Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. Sixth St., with the Rev. Dennis Mumaw officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
