Obituary from Ashley-Hudson Times 2 June 1939: Eliza A. Gramling, daughter of John and Magdaline Gramling, was born in DeKalb County, IN, September 7, 1862. She was united in marriage to Orlando Elliott March 7, 1882. To this union twelve children were born, five of whom with the husband have preceded her in death. She departed this life at the Cameron hospital at Angola, Ind., May 23, 1939 after four months of intense suffering, at the age of 76 years, 8 months, and 16 days
Early in life she became a member of Barker's Chapel church, later uniting with the Church of Christ at Ashley, Ind., where she still heldd her membership. She was a faithful and devoted wife and mother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She leaves to mourn their great loss seven children, Mrs. Matie Middlebusher of Mescalero, New Mexico; Mrs. Lula Zongker and Mrs. Blanche Gonser of Hudson, IN, Jesse Elliott, of Terre Haute, Ind., Mrs. Mildred Sprague of Angola, IN, Clarence Elliott and Mrs. Edna Foster of Toledo, Ohio; also two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Gengnagle of Butler, Ind. and Mrs. Nettie Sharp of Auburn, Ind. Sixteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
