Born in Marshall Michigan to Platt and Pauline Mumaw, he is survived by his brother, Minard Mumaw, son Larry Mumaw, daughter Lynda Steinman, grandchildren Randall and Michael Steinman, Clint and Rebecca Mumaw and four great grand children. His wife Eudora Ruby-Mumaw preceded him in death in 2009. They were married in Las Vegas Nevada in 1948 and eventually established their roots in Spokane where they raised two children.
In 1941, Henry answered his country's call to duty as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army with the 351st Company Anti-Aircraft Artillery Division.
In his later years, he enjoyed recalling his memories of his service during WWII. He saw action in North Africa and the European Theater, where he was wounded by gunfire on two separate occasions, March 10, 1945 and April 21, 1945. He quickly returned to enemy lines leading his men to a victorious conclusion of the war, where he was awarded four Bronze Battle Stars, one Bronze Arrow, two Bronze Stars, two Purple Hearts and a WWII Victory Medal.
After the war, he returned to his profession as a District Manager for Travelers Insurance Company. He was passionate about bird hunting and training his beloved dogs to perform in the field. He was an active member in the Inland Empire Appaloosa Horse Club where he showed and bred championship horses, most notably 2 HM'S Hey Robe. He was dedicated to returning the breed to their former glory with the markings that made this horse notable, the white blanket of coloring on the rear of the horse. There will be a private family gathering at Pines Cemetery with Military Color Guard to honor his sacrifice and service to our country.
