Rose Ray, 90 years of age, of Beatrice passed away at her home Monday afternoon, January 21, 2013. She was born on December 8, 1922 on a farm near Filley, NE., the oldest daughter of James and Theresa (Bocim) Hrabak. Rose was a 1940 graduate of Filley High School. She had been employed at the Dempster's Shell Plant during World War II; Nelson McKissick Shoe Store; and had been a dental assistant for Dr. F.W. Beckman. Rose and Byron Ray were married on June 16, 1956 in Beatrice and moved to Denver where Rose was employed at the Career Girl Dress Shop. They moved back to Beatrice after retirement in 1994. Rose enjoyed sewing, flowers, gardening, embroidery, and her dogs.
Survivors include her husband Byron; nephew James Mencl and wife Sharon of Virginia, NE.; niece Charlotte Rowe and husband Jim of Lincoln; great nieces and nephews Marcus Rowe and wife Jennifer, Terrance Rowe and wife Jodi, Jennifer Mencl, Robyn Mencl-Arena, and Courtney Mencl; several great great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Theresa (Bocim) Hrabak; and sister Lillian Schultze.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 1, 2013 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice with Reverend Dr. Jimmy Shelbourn officiating. Burial of her ashes will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, February 1, 2013 at the Evergreen Home Cemetery. There will be no viewing or visitation as cremation has taken place.
