Mark was an officer in the Boise Police Department. He was shot and fatally wounded on a routine call. This was the first fatality in the line of duty for the 100+ year old Boise Police Department. Over 5,000 people attended the funeral, marking the largest in Boise history, with officers coming from Oregon, Washington and California to pay tribute. Full details can be found in the September 25th 1997 edition of the "Idaho Statestman".
