Fred D. Mumma, 86, of Mechanicsburg, died Saturday at Seidle Memorial Hospital. He was founder of Mumma's Jewelry Store, Mechanicsburg, where he was a retail jeweler for more than 50 years. He was a 1908 graduate of the Harrisburg Academy and a graduate of Bowman Technical School, Lancaster. He was a life member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Mechanicsburg; a member and past president of Mechanicsburg Businessmen's League; a 50-year member of Eureka Lodge 302, F&AM; Harrisburg Consistory; and Zembo Shrine. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of 316th Infantry Association, American Legion Post 109, VFW Post 6704, Washington Fire Company of Mechanicsburg, and an honorary member of the Mechanicsburg Club. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Miriam O. Mumma; two sons, William F., of Mechanicsburg, and Ralph O., of State College; a daughter, Mrs. Grace A. McQuade, of Chicago; and five grandchildren. Burial in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
