Sara Mumma Rhoads Bostdorf of Fishing Creek Valley Road, Harrisburg, West Hanover Township, passed peacefully on Monday, February 11, 2008. She was 99 years young.
Born November 17, 1908 in Fishing Creek Valley, she was the daughter of the late John and Marry Mumma Rhoads, the widow of Robert Bostdorf, Sr. and mother to the late Robert Bostdorf, Jr.
Sara was a member of Shells Evangelical Lutheran Church and West Hanover Township Historical Society. She loved flowers and she loved to read. The Bible was her favorite. She was a homemaker and her most precious pastime was "giving of herself" to her family and friends and spreading "love." She was known as "Gram" to all. Her beautiful smile was her most wonderful attribute.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Gotshall and her husband, Randy, with whom she lived; foster sons, Rick Zettlemoyer, and his wife, Mary of Lebanon, Earl Conner and his wife, Minerva of Harrisburg, and Burley Conner and his wife, Mary of Harrisburg; grandson, James Layton and his wife, Kathy; great-granddaughter, Lindsey; great-grandson, James Layton, Jr., of Harrisburg; grandson, Chad Layton and his wife, Schenley; great- grandson, Chad Layton, Jr.; great-grandson, Tregan Layton of Harrisburg; foster grandchildren, Anita Thomas, Wendy Byrd, Burley Conner, Patti Conner, Tina Mozingo, Dan Conner and Mike Conner; foster great grandchildren, Delilah, Richard, Joseph, Jessica, and Christina Thomas, Nathaniel, Noah, and Christy Grigsby, Burley Conner, Jr., Jesse, Joshua, Sarah M., Brandy, Becky, Sarah J., Luke, Mike, and Danny Conner; and foster great great-grandson, Kaiden Conner.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 16, 2008 at her church, Shells Evangelical Lutheran Church, 287 Shells Church Road, Grantville, with the Rev. Linda A. L. Hostetter officiating. Viewing will be held from 12 Noon until time of services. Burial will be in Shells Cemetery. A reception will immediately follow in the church social hall.
