Ronald E. Mewmaw, 65, of Oswego, passed away Monday, April 8, 2002, at Rush-Copley Hospital. He was born September 28, 1936 in Aurora the son of the late Willard E. and Grace A. (Bailey) Mewmaw.
Mr. Mewmaw was the past president of the Tri-County Board of Realtors. He was an avid bowler and bowled in many leagues in the Aurora area, carrying an average of over 200. He also enjoyed golfing and fishing, especially with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed working in his garden. In his spare time he loved to read western novels, especially those by Louis L'Amour.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Sharon K. Mewmaw, of Oswego; his two sons, Douglas (Cathy) Mewmaw of Oswego and Gregory (Kris) Mewmaw of Yorkville; his seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Abigail and Faith Mewmaw and Matthew and Andrew Major, all of Oswego and Corinne and Kyle Mewmaw both of Yorkville; an uncle, Rev. Lisle Mewmaw of New Albany, IN; an aunt, Rose Hubbard of Aurora; his mother-in-law, Florence Elliott of Oblong, IL; and several cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for Mr. Mewmaw will be Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at the Dieterle Memorial Home, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2002 at 10:00a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Peter Hoffman will officiate with interment in Riverside Cemetery, Montgomery.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested contributions in Mr. Mewmaw's name to the Cancer Care Unit of Rush-Copley Hospital.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mayor Stover and Aldermen of the City of Aurora for their kind support to Ronald's family during his illness. Also to Dr. Patel and Dr. Reddy, and the entire staff of the Cancer Care Unit of Rush-Copley Hospital for their warmth and comfort to the family, and to Marie Wilkinson and her many friends for their prayerful support.
