18 June 1885 Jacob Hiram Welty Mumma married Mrs. Ida Crispen by James Cooper, Minister of the Gospel. (License # 2712).
5 Oct. 1888 Jacob Hiram Welty Mumma files for divorce from Ida Mumma because Ida, ?since the 21 day of Sept. 1886, has been living in an adulterous intercourse with one Harry C. Beck in the city of Logansport, Indiana.? Common Court Pleas # 10424. Record 33, page 288. The divorce was granted on 7 Feb 1889. [One family legend claims that Simon Mumma drove to Indiana and found his father being kept in a chicken coup and Simon brought his father home. I think this is more of a tale than fact]
I have examined the 1900 census in an attempt to find Ida and Harry C. Beck without success. There is a Harry C. Beck with a wife named Ida found in the 1900-1930 Indiana census. It would appear to be a perfect fit, but this Ida would have only been 17 years old when she would have married JHWM. The Indiana marriages list that this couple were married on 18 Sept 1886 in Greene County, IN. which is when Mrs. Ida Cripen was married to Jacob and living in Dayton, Ohio. Also, this Harry C. Beck & wife Ida have a child born in 1887.
I know nothing more about this woman.
