Funeral services for Basil L. "Micky" Mumaw Jr., 59, of Memphis, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 20, at Safe Harbor Christian Church, Henryville, with burial in Mount Moriah Cemetery. He died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at his home.
He was born April 6, 1949 in Louisville and was a member of Safe Harbor Christian Church. He served in the U.S. Navy and after discharge, worked as a private contractor for the U.S. Government. He then enjoyed farming and worked in construction.
Survivors include his father, Basil L. Mumaw Sr., Corydon; daughter, Leah R. Phillips and husband, Charles, Virginia Beach, Va.; sons, Basil L. Mumaw III and wife, Emily, New Albany, Jacob Lewis Mumaw, Alexandria, Va., and Christopher Mumaw, Louisiana; sister, Rebecca C. Cain and husband, Terry, Corydon; brothers, Skip Mumaw and wife, Debbie, Memphis, Benjamin Mumaw and wife, Vicky, Diamond, Ohio, and Hughlett Mumaw and wife, Jackie, Cantonment, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace H. Dennison Mumaw.
Visitation will be at R.D. Pyke Funeral Home from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 19, from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday. Visitation at the church will be from 1 p.m. until time of service.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Safe Harbor Christian Church, c/o P.O. Box 206, Henryville, 47126.
