Death of John Mumaw
John Mumaw, who for many years managed the "Weaver Farm" in Butler township, died around noon on Sunday, just eight days after his son Frank had committed suicide by hanging himself in the barn. Mr. Mumaw has been seriously ill for the past several weeks with rheumatism and dropsy. Worry over the act of his son undermined his weakened condition and hastened the end.
Few men were better known or had more friends in the valley than John Mumaw. He was man of generous impulses. He was a devoted husband and a kind and indulgent father; a good neighbor, but the greatest of all he was a man, and to his friends, the soul of fellowship. Surviving him are his wife and three sons, Charles, Oscar and Ray.
Mr. Mumaw was born in Conyngham Valley 58 years ago. He always resided there. The funeral took place Thursday afternoon. Services were conducted in the Reformed church by Rev. Hartzell, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
