PAUL GERALD KRICK, age 93, peacefully passed away, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Houston, Texas, on September 2, 2008. He was born December 16th, 1914 in Oblong, Illinois to parents Ethel Pearl and James Calvin Krick. After graduating from Oblong High School in 1933 he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. Paul then moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma to find work, where he started his career in the oil industry. Moving to Freer, Texas in 1935 he was employed by the Texas Pipe Line Company (Texaco, Inc.) and in 1980 retired after 45 years of service. In Freer, he met Olive Faye Edwards whom he later married on June 25th, 1938 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Paul was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over sixty years, his first membership being in the El Campo Lodge #918, and later a member of the Oak Forest Masonic Lodge #1398 in Houston. He was also a member of Houston Scottish Rite, joining in 1983. In 1967 Paul and Olive moved to Houston and became members of the St. Stephens United Methodist Church. He loved playing golf in his younger years, getting into a good domino game of "42" and going fishing. Paul is survived by his loving wife, Olive, of 70 years; son Paul G. Krick Jr.; daughter Betty Phillips and husband Tom of Dripping Springs; and three granddaughters Jennifer Phillips of Austin; Allison Connorton and husband Matt of Oakland, California; Cathy Humphrey and husband Blayke of Lubbock; Brothers Murl and wife Marie Krick of Oblong, Illinois; James C. Krick and wife Joyce of Shawnee, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Coleen Krick widow of brother Denzil Krick. Paul will be remembered as a loving husband, adoring father, inspirational grandfather, and entertaining story teller to all. Family Visitation will be Thursday, September 4th from 6-8 pm at Pat H. Foley Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at St. Stephens United Methodist Church, 2003 W. 43rd St. Houston 77018, on Friday, September 5th at 2 pm. Graveside Services will be held at Fitzhugh Baptist Cemetery Dripping Springs, Texas on Saturday, September 6th at 3PM. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Hornick, Les Gau, Eddie Pollard, Phil Meyer, Milton Ray, Frank LaBelle, and Walther Winkle.
