The 1880 census of Middletown, Butler Co., OH lists a Florence Mumma, age 21, as a widow with two children, Harry Mumma, age 3 years and Charles Mumma, age 10 months. We assume this is Samuel's wife and that Samuel has died prior to the census in either 1879 or 1880

Further examinations of the census suggest that Florence moved to the Lycoming area of Pennsylvania where she met and married Edgar Thompson and she had children with him. Shortly before 1900, she and Edgar migrated back to Butler County, OH, but her oldest son, Harry, remained in Lycoming County, PA where he married and raised his family.
The Butler county death records list his death as 11 Apr 1879 at age 20 yrs. 4 mo, 10 days of consumption
